For those of us who live in hot areas with very little rain keeping a lawn in good health and green can be a challenge. I live in tropical Antigua and, although at some times of the year we get a lot of rain, especially during the hurricane season, at other times we have drought conditions. It is best cut to about one to one and a half inches for hard wear and resistance to drought.
Zoysia Grass

It is a first-rate drought resistant grass since it’s deep roots let it locate water at greater depths. During colder weather it will become dormant and turns brown. Zoysia grass seed produces a rather slow growing grass that’s quite trouble-free to look after.
Tall Fescue Grass
While tall fescue flourishes best in moist conditions it is exceedingly drought resistant and grows well in a lot of different sorts of soils including clay soil that is badly drained. Tall fescue grass seed is perfect for regions that experience hot, humid and long summers and very cold winters but if you keep it cut to approximately 3 inches during the hottest season it is able to tolerate drought conditions satisfactorily. It is a good plan to over seed tall fescue in the Fall to guarantee even coverage of your lawn.
